Skills, Thrills & Spills

Dust, daring deeds and determination will once again herald the Creative Jewellers Diamonds and Pearls 2011 Darwin Championship Rodeo presented by the Rotary Club of Darwin North. The rodeo is staged at Robbie Robbins Reserve at Berrimah over two exciting nights of skills, thrills and spills on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 August commencing at 6.00pm sharp.

Vying with the best of Australia's cowboys will be three international riders from Canada, Brazil and New Zealand. Stock contractors Gill Brothers will again ensure the best and meanest rodeo broncos and bulls including the 2010 Australian Bucking Bull Champion Destination Unknown. As an added incentive the Northern Territory Centenary will feature prominently on the belt buckles awarded to the winners of both the open and junior events.

Brawn will be matched by beauty with the presence of Kezia Morrison, Miss Rodeo Canada and Caitlyn McPhee, Miss Rodeo Australia as well as three local Rodeo Ambassadors Katie Harding, Kiran McLaren and Raegan Zell.

"This year's Rodeo is especially significant as it coincides with the centenary of the Northern Territory. The Rotary Club of Darwin North is doing everything it can to present a spectacular community event as part of the centenary celebrations," said Club President Paul Asprey.

There is no need to rush home when the rodeo action ceases as the entertainment will continue both nights with country rock music by Eclipse, sideshow alley, Australia's favourite traditional show stopper - Roy Bell's Boxing Tent, full bar facilities, food stalls and Eftpos available (at bar and main gate).

The Darwin Championship Rodeo is presented by the Rotary Club of Darwin North in conjunction with the Australian Professional Rodeo Association. Major sponsors include the Northern Territory Government, Southern Cross Television, Holiday Inn Hotels and Resorts, XXXX Gold and Diageo.
